Alpinia nutans
Evergreen, sprawling shrub to three feet with elliptical, three-inch long green leaves. During warm months this shrub bears bright reddish orange flowers with two lips, with a contrasting glossy black spot on the lower lip, giving these blooms a very unique appearance. Root hardy in mild temperate areas. Requires full to part sun, with regular moisture in fertile, well-drained soil.
Alpinina nutans, or cardomom ginger is a great fill for those shady spots where you need strong show of growth. A shy bloomer, Alpinia nutans makes up for it by having fragrant foliage. Its leaves smell of cinnamon and spice when rubbed.
This plant is provided as a rhizome orn in a pot.Some rhizomes will occasionaly be in active growth when shipped.
